The Wisdom of Silence

He who guards his lips, guards his soul.

He who listens to wisdom, achieves his goal.
The Lord gave man one mouth but two ears
so that he benefits more from what he hears.

Words we speak, we often regret.
Promises we make, we soon forget.
But wisdom obtained, seldom goes vain.
For every lesson we learn is an asset we gain.

We often argue about things we know not well.
But silence expresses what even words cannot tell.
He who listens to wisdom, achieves his goal.
And he who guards his lips, indeed guards his soul.
