And Then The Sun Replied

It was day when the Sun shone bright,
and shared with his sister, the Earth, all his light.
All life flourished as the day was warm;
the Sun reached out and stretched an arm.

Wherever there was dark, light was hope;
in every pit there was an escape rope.
Thus Earth was a lively and energetic place;
she revolved with a smile on her face.

The Sun and the Earth shared the clouds and the rain;
they understood each other’s joy and pain.
Thus the day together they spent,
but as evening approached, the Sun began his dissent.

The Earth did not wish to bid goodbye to the Sun.
But wordlessly, he disappeared into the horizon.
All light disappeared and the night was cold.
All activity ceased, but there was no brother to hold.

So the Earth said, “Brother I miss thee.
I cannot find thee even as I search the infinity.
The night is as dark and cold as can be.
But I find thee not! Have thou forgotten me?”

And then she heard a reply, “Little sis, we are not apart.
I descended towards the horizon so that I may reach thy heart.
I’m always with thee, though thou may not see.
I’m now where I belong and this is where I wish to be.”

Our Hopes and Aspirations

A hope is that which keeps us alive
even during the darkest days of our lives.
Only in its absence one’s life ends.
So remember this, and keep faith my friends!

A dream is that which keeps us awake
and comes to real with every step forward we take.
Only in its absence life’s purpose ends.
So remember this, and reach out my friends!

May our hopes and dreams motivate our day!
May we overcome all obstacles, come what may!
Life’s not really as hard as it often seems.
Just remember this and we’ll fulfill our dreams.

With the very acid he would titrate,

he rinsed the long and narrow burette.
Then up to the nozzle he filled it with acid
and adjusted the screw the way his instructor did.
And then from a beaker he pipetted some base;
it might sound easy, but that wasn’t the case.
For the liquid rose and fell through the tube so narrow;
Though he did suck some in, he dared not swallow.
He tried again blocking the other end with his finger.
But at the pipette’s marking the base would not linger.
At last, at 20 ml, the base did stop.
And then, into the conical flask the procuring he was to drop.
Four drops of the indicator he added, indeed.
Then to the next step he was to proceed.
Below the clamped burette he placed the flask,
And he released the screw to complete his task.
Drop by drop the acid was released;
and he swirled the flask until the neutralization ceased.
Till the yellow indicator turned colorless, and then pink,
he patiently observed and dared not to even blink.
Just one drop more of acid made the difference.
Then he tightened the burette’s screw and noted his inference.
The difference in the burette’s reading gave him the volume
of acid the neutralization of base would consume.
And thus once again with this experiment he preceded;
for yet another concurrent reading he needed.

Friendship: The Broken Thread

A good friend of mine once said,

You see, friendship is like a thread.

When you cut it, it breaks

due to life’s terrible mistakes.

I replied, “That can be fixed, my friend!

If you tie a knot, the broken thread you mend.

He argued. “But that would leave a scar!
I said, “That happens in both love and war.

This knot would hold the thread even more strong.

We shall never learn until we do something wrong.

We often hurt the ones we love.

And these memories soon subside into our treasure trove.

You might feel betrayed because of words said.
But if you think it’s all over, your mind is misled.
All you need to do is tie a knot.
If you remain by his side, it means a lot.

So be glad every time someone fights with you.
He’ll be back when you’re down so that you make it through.
If your feelings are hurt because of what he said,
remember that it’s not over, it’s just a broken thread.
